Mitzvah Day is a day of social action that brings people of all ages, faiths, and backgrounds together to volunteer and help others in their community. The word mitzvah is Hebrew for "good deed" or "act of kindness" done out of religious duty. The day is based on Judaism's teachings of tikkun olam, which is about improving the world. Mitzvah Day is collecting mini toiletries, winter outwear (coats, boots, gloves/mittens, hats, scarves) for all ages/genders, and school-appropriate clothing for kids/teen in bins in the lobby through Mitzvah Day/Sunday Sept. 22.
